In alignment with Immaculata - La Salle High School's overall mission and vision we, as facilitators of learning, believe that concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math are inherently integral. We are committed to increasing STEAM literacy for all students and to nurture active, lifelong learners preparing them to be responsible, contributing members of society and global citizens who can identify and use the connections shared by these disciplines to help shape their lives and their community.

STEAM Program Requirements
​1. Comply with all requirements of the Student-Parent Handbook
2. Maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and achieve a B or higher in all STEAM courses
3. Complete a Program of Study that includes:

STEAM Focus Electives: 4 Credits

Minimum of 1 Fine Art or 1 Practical Art Credit​​

4. Maintain a STEAM Portfolio

5. Participate in Outreach

Maintain membership in at least one ILS club or honor society. Activities must include off campus collaboration or competition with students from other schools.

Volunteer Hours at Mercy Hospital are required for the Health Science Focus.
Admission into the STEAM Program is only offered to Incoming Freshmen. Students may apply to one of the following focus areas:
Engineering Focus
The Engineering focus provides exposure to career skills in various engineering fields. The course of study begins with Introduction to Engineering, which provides students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of applied engineering and its effect upon our lives. The remaining courses are Honors courses in Principles of Engineering, Foundations of Robotics, and finally the completion of a Senior Capstone Project in Engineering Design. Students who successfully complete the program will receive extensive training in the web-based 3D CAD design system, Onshape.
Global Business Leadership Focus
Succeeding globally means developing a global mindset while using local knowledge to understand business challenges in markets around the world. Global Business Leadership is focused on ensuring students expand their global business mindset, business knowledge, professional skills, and ethical frameworks. Students will explore how successful leaders have built effective organizations and companies through essential competences, relationships, visions, and interaction within and across businesses. This focus will provide insights into business law and ethics, marketing, accounting, finance, business management, international business, economics, and entrepreneurship. Successful students in this focus have an opportunity to earn up to 12 college dual-enrollment credits through Miami Dade College.
Legal Studies Focus
The Legal Studies Focus provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with legal concepts, legal institutions, and the legal process. It is designed to help students understand and analyze the policies and practices of our legal system. The courses deal with a wide variety of subjects, including legal systems and concepts, international law, constitutional law, forensic science, and criminal justice.

Digital Arts Focus
The Digital Arts focus provides exposure to various career skills related to film, television production, and print art. The course of study begins with Graphics I, which provides students with a foundation of knowledge in Adobe Photoshop. The remaining courses include content in digital video technology and TV production or Adobe Illustrator and 3D Animation. Coursework in this focus enhances student competency in technology, mechanics, creativity, and artistry to build a college ready portfolio. Students who successfully complete the program and pass the necessary exams could receive industry recognized certifications in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Final Cut Pro X.
Health Science Focus
The Health Science focus provides exposure to various aspects of the medical field. In partnership with Mercy Hospital, students complete quarterly rotations and volunteer hours at the hospital. The course of study begins with Health Science Foundations Honors, which provides students with practical competencies related to health decisions all individuals make during their lifetime. The remaining courses include Health Explorations Honors, Personal Fitness, Anatomy & Physiology Honors, and Allied Health III. Students who successfully complete the program will be certified in First Aid/CPR and will be eligible to take the exam for the CMAA Certification.
Fitness and Sports Studies Focus
This unique program combines the fundamentals of kinesiology with courses in exercise science and business to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in the fields of fitness, wellness, and strength and conditioning. Students will explore how the human body grows stronger and healthier, and study how the human brain forms habits that change lives. Students will gain experiential knowledge and practice to help shape their paths, whether it’s becoming a collegiate athlete or pursuing a career in fitness or sports studies. Courses in this focus include topics in health and nutrition, physical education and weight training, anatomy & physiology, care & prevention of athletic injuries, personal finance, and sports marketing. Students who successfully complete the program will be certified in First Aid and CPR.
